AI agents and existing subscriptions
Glyph can drive coding agents you already use. You bring the CLI and the subscription. Glyph does not sell those subscriptions and does not need a Glyph API key for these agents.
Open a Space, enable AI features, then pick an agent under Settings → Glyph AI.
Supported agents
| Agent | How you connect |
|---|---|
| Codex | Sign In with ChatGPT, plus the Codex CLI installed |
| OpenCode | Matching CLI installed |
| Amp | Matching CLI installed |
| Claude Code | Matching CLI installed |
| PI | Matching CLI installed |
Install the CLI for the agent you want. Glyph calls that tool on your machine. It does not ship each vendor’s full installer for you.
Confirm the CLI runs in your system terminal and that you can sign in there before you debug Glyph. If the terminal fails, the Glyph AI panel will fail too.
Codex and ChatGPT
For Codex, use Sign In with ChatGPT in Glyph and keep the Codex CLI available on your system. Your ChatGPT access is between you and OpenAI. Glyph does not replace that account or sell ChatGPT plans.
After Sign In with ChatGPT succeeds, pick Codex as the agent for the Space and open the Glyph AI panel.
Subscriptions
Glyph does not sell Codex, OpenCode, Amp, Claude Code, or PI subscriptions. You pay those providers (or use their free tiers) on their terms. Glyph only connects the agent into the Glyph AI panel.
You do not enter a Glyph API key for these agents. Agent auth is Sign In with ChatGPT (Codex) or whatever the CLI already uses on your account.
API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google/Gemini, OpenRouter, and OpenAI compatible endpoints are a different path. Those belong in the API keys guide, not here.
Tools and chat
With an agent selected:
- Tools on: create mode
- Tools off: chat-only
Same rules as the Glyph AI overview. History and @ context work in the Glyph AI sidebar. Send and Stop control the run.
Create mode can change files in the Space. Use chat-only when you want discussion without create actions.
Per-space choice
Agent choice is per space. Pick Codex in one Space and Claude Code in another if you want. Each Space keeps its own AI profile.
Tips
- If an agent fails to start, run the CLI in Terminal and fix auth there first.
- Keep System PATH working so Glyph can find the CLI the same way your shell does.
- Official Glyph licensing (trial or Activate under General) is separate from agent subscriptions.
