AI agents and editing workflows

Glyph AI can work in the sidebar or in a full Agent tab. You can ask about attached notes, revise selected text, or use tools to create work in the open Space.

Choose an agent

Open a Space, then go to Settings → Glyph AI. Enable AI features and choose an agent, API-key provider, or local model. See the agent setup guide for CLI installation and sign-in requirements, including Cursor and Grok.

Open the Agent tab

Click Agent in the sidebar to open the chat in the main workspace. Use Toggle AI Panel when you want the sidebar panel beside a note.

The Agent entry is available when AI features are enabled. If it is hidden, check Settings → Sidebar as well.

Ask about selected text

Open a note in Rich mode and select the passage.
Use AI: Use Selection as Context.
In the AI panel, choose Summarize, Rephrase, or write your own request.
Review the response.
Choose Replace to replace the selection, or Insert below to keep the original and add the response beneath it.

The selected text appears in the panel so you can check what you attached. If the original passage changes before you apply the answer, Glyph asks you to select it again and retry.

Attach notes and folders

Type @ in the composer to pick files or folders from the Space. Remove context chips when you no longer need them. Attach the specific material that the request depends on rather than assuming the model has read the whole Space.

Make a canvas

Type /canvas in the AI composer and choose the canvas command. Describe what you want to draw, then send the request.

For example:

Create a canvas showing the steps from a rough note to a published article.

Canvas creation needs tool access and a provider/model that can perform the required actions. The result is an Excalidraw canvas in the open Space. You can open it and continue editing by hand.

Tools and settings scope

With tools enabled, an agent can inspect and change work in the Space. Chat-only mode does not provide those create tools. Tool support varies by provider and model.

AI availability and tools mode are app-wide settings. Provider profiles, the active provider, and API credentials are configured per Space. Switching Spaces changes the profile you use, but does not give each Space its own enable/tools switches.

History lets you return to previous chats. Stop cancels an active response; it does not promise to undo file changes already made by a tool.
