Inbox and Archive

Inbox collects new notes in one folder until you file them. Archive hides finished notes from everyday browsing without moving or deleting them. Both are set per Space.

Set up Inbox

  1. Open a Space.
  2. Go to Settings → Space → Inbox.
  3. Under Folder, choose Browse and pick a folder in the Space.

New notes are created in this folder. Clear the folder to go back to creating notes in the current folder.

Use the Inbox

The Inbox view shows the notes in your Inbox folder. Add it to the sidebar under Settings → Sidebar. It is hidden by default. If no Inbox folder is set, the view offers Set up Inbox.

To move the open note into the Inbox, run Send to Inbox from the command palette. Glyph moves the file into the Inbox folder. If the note was archived, Glyph also unarchives it.

When the view says Your Inbox is clear., every new note has been filed.

Turn on Archive

Archive is off by default. Turn it on for each Space under Settings → Space → Archive → Enable Archive.

Archive a note

Archive a note in any of these ways:

  • Run Archive Note from the command palette.
  • Click Archive in the editor toolbar.
  • Right-click the note in the file tree and choose Archive.

Glyph adds archived: true to the note’s frontmatter. The file stays in its folder. Only that property changes; the rest of the frontmatter stays as it was.

After you archive or unarchive, a confirmation appears with Undo.

Where archived notes go

Archived notes are hidden from the file tree, All Notes, and pinned notes. They still appear in command palette search, so you can open one by name.

The Archive view lists archived notes. Add it under Settings → Sidebar. It is hidden by default and appears only when Archive is enabled for the Space.

Unarchive a note

Open the note and run Unarchive Note from the command palette, or click Unarchive in the editor toolbar. Glyph removes the archived flag and the note returns to the file tree and All Notes.

Tips

  • Point Quick Notes at your Inbox folder if you file capture later.
  • Archive is a flag, not a folder. Moving an archived note does not unarchive it.
  • Use Collections or tags to sort notes out of the Inbox.
