Quick Notes
Quick Notes are for short capture without digging through the file tree. They land in a folder you choose inside the active Space.
Set the Quick Notes folder
- Open a Space.
- Go to Settings → Space → Quick Notes.
- Pick the folder where new quick notes should go.
New quick notes are added in that folder (including today’s quick note flow when you use it). Keep the folder inside the Space so files stay with the rest of your notes.
Quick note window
Use Open Quick Note to open the floating quick note window. Type there, then save. Glyph writes a Markdown file into the configured Quick Notes folder of the active Space.
The window is a scratchpad. Placeholder text invites you to write a quick note or press / for commands, same idea as the main editor.
Global shortcut
Open Quick Note can use a global shortcut so you can capture while another app is focused. The default binding is listed under Settings → Shortcuts. Change or clear it there.
If you set a global shortcut, Glyph registers it so the quick note window can open from outside the main window. If registration fails, check that the shortcut is free and remappable bindings in Keyboard Shortcuts.
Needs an open Space
Quick notes write into the active Space’s Quick Notes folder. Open a Space in the main window first. Without an open Space, there is nowhere for Glyph to save the file.
Open from the main window
From the main Glyph window you can:
- Run Open Quick Note from the command palette (
Cmd+K) - Use the bound shortcut
- After saving, follow the flow that opens the new note in the main window when Glyph emits the open-note event
Use Today’s quick note in the quick note UI when you want the capture target reset to today’s quick note in the folder.
What you get on disk
A quick note is a normal .md file in the Quick Notes folder (often named with a date stamp and “Quick Note”). You can rename it, move it, link to it with wikilinks ([[...]]), or open it later from the sidebar like any other note.
Tips
- Point Quick Notes at an Inbox folder if you process capture later.
- Use Daily Notes for the dated journal; use Quick Notes for short captures that may not be “today’s journal entry.”
- Remap Open Quick Note under Settings → Shortcuts if the default chord is hard to press.
