Experimental writing options

Open Settings → Experimental under Labs to try Note peek, Zen mode, Focus mode, and the format-bar option. These features may change or be removed in a later version.

Note peek

Turn on Note peek to read linked notes without replacing your current tab.

Wiki links and notes opened from All Notes can appear in a read-only Peek over the current tab. Expand or open the Peek to navigate to that note. Close it to return to where you were.

The file tree and command palette still open notes in tabs. Note peek does not turn every navigation action into a preview.

Use it when you want to check a reference and continue writing in the original note.

Zen mode

Turn on Zen mode to hide the sidebars, tabs, editor controls, and formatting ribbon. Your note gets the available writing space.

To leave Zen mode, open Settings through the app menu and turn it off. Controls hidden by Zen mode become available again, including the daily-note rollover controls when the note is eligible.

Focus mode

Focus mode dims inactive text in the main Rich editor. Choose:

Use Paragraph for drafting a section at a time. Use Sentence when you want to pay attention to the line you are writing.

Focus mode applies to the main Rich editor. It does not change the Markdown file or the appearance of exported documents.

Format bar

The Formatting bar toggle controls the bottom formatting bar in Rich mode. Hide it when you prefer writing with keyboard commands and slash inserts.

Zen mode also hides editor controls, so turn Zen mode off before checking whether the format-bar toggle is taking effect.

Vim mode

Vim mode is also in Experimental settings. It applies to the Raw Markdown editor. Enable it here, then switch the note to Raw.
