Shortcuts and About
The last Application panes cover keyboard shortcuts and app info. Open Settings → Shortcuts or Settings → About. Both are app-wide; they do not change per Space. See the Settings overview for how Application and Workspace panes fit together.
Shortcuts
The Shortcuts pane lists Glyph actions and their keys.
What you can do:
- Rebind a shortcut to a different key combination
- Disable a shortcut you never use
- Reset shortcuts back to defaults when you want the stock map again
Change shortcuts that clash with other apps or with how you type. Disable chords you hit by accident. Reset if an experiment leaves the map messy.
After you rebind, try the action once in the main window to confirm the new key. If nothing happens, check that another app or OS shortcut is eating the same combination.
Shortcuts are Application settings. They apply across Spaces on this install.
About
The About pane shows:
- Version of Glyph you are running
- Links to product or community pages
- Check for Updates: look for a newer official build
- Notes on Alpha releases when you are on pre-release channels
- Context for community builds vs official builds
Use Check for Updates on official builds when you want the latest release. Community builds are usable without the same auto-update path as official builds.
Alpha releases can change day to day. Read release notes before you rely on a new alpha for important work.
License vs About
License status and Activate live under Settings → General → License, not About.
| Place | What you find |
|---|---|
| About | Version, links, Check for Updates, alpha and community notes |
| General → License | Community Build / Trial / Trial Expired / Licensed, and Activate |
Official builds include a 7-day trial. Activate a key under General when the trial ends. Community Build stays usable without that Activate flow, with different update behavior.
When to open which pane
- Keys feel wrong: Shortcuts (rebind, disable, reset).
- Wondering which build you have: About (version) and General → License (status).
- Looking for a new release: About → Check for Updates on official builds.
Tips
- Reset shortcuts before you rebind everything from scratch; it is faster than undoing one by one.
- If Check for Updates does nothing on a community build, that is expected.
- Keep version handy when you report a problem so others know which build you run.
