Space settings
Space settings belong to the Space you have open. Open a Space first, then go to Settings → Space. Change the open Space and these values change with it.
Daily Notes folder
Set the folder where Daily Notes live. Glyph creates or opens today’s note in that folder when you use Daily Notes or the calendar.
Pick a path inside your Space (for example Daily or Journal). Keep the folder inside the Space so daily files stay with the rest of your notes.
Set this before you lean on Open Daily Note every morning. If the folder is missing, Glyph asks you to set it.
Quick Notes folder
Set the folder for Quick Notes. New quick notes land here so capture stays in one place.
Use a shallow folder near the Space root if you inbox ideas all day and file them later. Use a nested folder if Quick Notes should stay out of sight in the tree.
Attachments location
Choose where Glyph stores images and other attachments when you add them:
- Space root: attachments at the top of the Space
- One folder: a single shared attachments folder you choose
- Next to note: beside the note file
- Note subfolder: in a subfolder under the note
One folder keeps media in a single place for backup and Git. Next to note and Note subfolder keep media near the note that uses it. Space root is simple but can get crowded.
This setting affects new attachments. Files already on disk stay where they are until you move them.
Templates folder and daily template
Set a Templates folder for note templates. Point the daily-note template at the template Glyph should use when it creates a Daily Note.
Templates are Markdown files in that folder. Daily Notes use the daily template when one is set. Other new notes can use templates from the same folder through the create flows.
A daily template is optional. Daily Notes still work without one; new days start blank or with minimal structure.
Search Index
Use Rebuild on the Search Index if search feels stale or missing notes. Rebuild scans the Space and refreshes the index Glyph uses for search.
Rebuild after you moved many files outside Glyph, renamed large trees in Finder, or search results look wrong. Normal edits inside Glyph keep the index current without a manual rebuild.
People mentions as tags
Turn on People mentions as tags if you want people-style mentions treated as tags. Mentions then show up with your other tags for filtering and browsing.
Leave it off if mentions should stay plain text and tags should stay #tag only.
Tips
- These settings are per-space. Open Space A to edit A’s folders; open Space B for B’s.
- Set Daily Notes and Templates before you build a morning habit around Daily Notes.
- If Git Sync includes templates or attachments, match these folder choices to what you want on the remote.
